A recent attempted terror assault on a police statio in Banyumas, Central Java, has resulted in police in Bali increasing the level of security at border crossings, the Island’s airport and areas surrounding major police installations.
Beritabali.com reports that fully-armed police wearing bullet-proof flak jackets were on guard at the entrance to the Badung Police Headquarter (Mapolres) on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
A security perimeter was put in place around the regional police headquarter following what appeared to be a failed terrorist attack on the Banyumas Police Headquarter in Central Java on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Police on the scene in Bali said the heavily armed guard presence was done in anticipation of a terrorist attack aimed at the police and done on the instructions of National Police Headquarters.
Those entering the building are also undergoing searches and having their identities noted by police personnel.
The Spokesman for the Bali Provincial Police, Hengky Wijaya, also confirmed that security along the perimeters of police facilities have been upgraded while the entry ports by land and sea to the Island were now pratrolled by heavily armed guards in order to prevent any possible attack by radical elements.
