Buleleng Regency Seeking Rent Hike for North Bali Letkol Wisnu Airport

(11/11/2017) NusaBali reports that the Regency of Buleleng in North Bali is seeking a rent increase for the Letkol Winsu Airport used as a base for the Bali International Flight Academy (BIFA).

BIFA has used the landing strip since 2008 for the training of young Indonesian pilots seeking careers in the aviation industry. In the original lease agreement with the Regency, BIFA pays Rp. 30 million each year for the 2-hectare land area owned by the Regency that encompasses a 1,200-meter long runway, a 180-meter long taxiway, and an apron measuring 60x40 meters. The Province of Bali owns an adjoining piece of land that also forms part of the airport.

The original lease agreement provides for the right to review the terms once every three years.

Discussions and assessments are underway to determine the value of Regency assets that form part of the Airport and to determine what part of the complex is on land owned by the Province.

The Regency of Buleleng estimates the physical and land assets used by BIFA at Rp. 75.6 million.
